3 Steps to a Better Social Media Strategy in 2014

When you work with social media as I do, it is easy to get wrapped up in working on your client's initiatives and put your own on the back burner.  The same is true for most businesses, its easy to focus on your client's needs and often difficult to carve out time to focus on your own business's.  For 2014, I am going to start practicing what I preach when it comes to social media.social logos on chalkI'm going to start the year off by doing these three simple things:1.  Create a Facebook page. (That's right you read that correctly, I don't have a Facebook page LOL.)2.  Devote more time to interacting, not just posting.3.  Devote equal time to ALL my social networks and eliminate those that aren't working.Social media can be overwhelming.  It's a lot to keep up with and a lot to manage on a daily basis when you're also trying to work your business.  If you can't commit time to interacting and to managing all your networks hire someone who can.  If you can't afford to or don't want to hire someone for this, take a good luck at where you are devoting your social media efforts.  Determine which channels are working best for you and which you can do with out.You don't have to be on every social network.  It's better do one or two and do them well, than to be on a bunch of sites and not managing any of them properly.  So for 2014, let's commit to following these 3 steps to a better social media strategy and see what kind of benefits it can bring to our businesses!
