I’m Jennifer Calero, my friends call me Jenn!
So, here’s what you need to know about me!
I’m a mom, wife, dog mom to 2 rescue dogs and I own Small Talk.
I love all things chocolate and I’m not a morning person!
Fresh out of college if you had asked me where I would be today, I would have said that I’d be running the marketing department for some big corporation wearing a suit to work every day.
Today that sounds like my own version of hell on Earth! Having kids changed me. It changed what was important. I started Small Talk after my daughter was born in 2012 and I’ve never looked back.
Well sometimes I look back, but it’s not what you think. The truth…I always wanted to be a hairstylist. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to my local cos school and got a brochure thinking I was really going to do it. I was going to go back and become a cosmetologist.
After getting an undergraduate degree in communications, a Master’s in Business Administration and working as an on-staff sales and marketing director for a local spa, I just couldn’t wrap my arms around going back to school.
So, I found a way to marry my passion for beauty industry with my skills and experience by working with beauty business owners to help them organize their marketing, get consistent and get results.

Now that you know more about me, let me introduce you to Small Talk Marketing and tell you how we get things done! Small Talk is a brand strategy studio that focuses on helping beauty business owners, position and market their company, using both digital and traditional marketing tactics, to attract their ideal client. We focus on branding, digital content and creating cohesive digital assets that make your brand shine bright like a diamond (cue the Rhianna song).
No smoke and mirrors here. I’m a one woman operation. You’ll always work directly with me BUT I say “we” because I have a team of trusted contractors I lean on to get jobs done.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to get your business then pass you off to someone else. I will always be your point person. Everything that comes out of Small Talk has my stamp of approval, or it doesn’t go out!
So, I always hear, “when are you getting office space?” or “you should hire someone.” No thanks. Building relationships with contractors instead of building an on-staff marketing team allows me to match projects with skill sets. This ultimately helps me deliver the best possible end result to you. It also helps me keep my overhead down, so I can offer you affordable pricing. As a small business owner myself, I see the value in quality services that you can actually afford so that’s what Small Talk will always be about.
