Facebook Updates

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]Let's talk about Facebook updates.  They can be a pain for marketers and for small business owners but Facebook loves to make updates whether it be to their algorithm, their layout, or  features they offer.  I was on my business page last week scheduling some posts and noticed a change to my page's layout that I thought was worth sharing.  When viewing my Facebook business page, it now looks like the photo to the right.I'm not sure how long this layout change has been in effect or if everyone has it.  Like I said, I just noticed it last week and I can't find any articles on the change.  While it's not a huge deal I felt it was worth writing about because if you haven't updated your Facebook page information in a while, there may be a few sections on your business page profile that need updating.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3375" img_size="large" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_border"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

It's Time to Look at Your Service Tab

A while back Facebook added a "Service" tab to business pages.  If you're like me, you may have totally missed this addition if you weren't looking for it or didn't read about it!  If you didn't know the "Service" tab existed, it's definitely time to take a look and get it updated.  If you did know it was there, I encourage you to revisit this section of your Facebook page and make sure it is up to date.

Why is the Service tab important?

The Service tab essentially allows potential customers to see your services (and prices if you decide to include them) in one place.  Customers no longer have to leave Facebook and visit your website for this information.  This is actually a great feature for small businesses, especially service based businesses.  The downside is, it's another place you as a small business owner need to remember to update![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3371" img_size="large" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_border"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Other Facebook Updates to Consider

I'd suggest going through every tab on your Facebook business page and making sure your information is up to date and everything is working correctly.  I use a third party app to gather email sign ups and I noticed it needed updating today!  In addition I found two other sections to keep an eye out for.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Business Hours

I did not see this on my business page, but one of my clients now had a "Popular Hours" section displayed right on their Facebook business page.  This is different than business operating hours as her page has operating hours on it.  It seems Facebook wants you to tell customers what time of your day is busiest.  I don't really love this feature as I'm not sure how it's totally relevant but none the less, take a look and try to up date it so your page doesn't look unfinished.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3377" img_size="large" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_border"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Verify Your Page

Finally, I also saw today that Facebook was asking me to verify my page.  It took two minutes to do so if you see this along the right hand side of your page, I suggest you take a minute to verify your page.  The note says verifying your page will help you come up in Facebook searches.Depending on how often you review your business Facebook page, you may have other updates to do!  As I suggested above, take a few minutes and go through every tab that Facebook now offers as part of the page layout and update your information.  Just like a website, or a brochure, your Facebook business page should be kept up to date too![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3374" img_size="large" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_border"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
