Like many, for me, the new year is a time to reflect on the last 12 months and plan for the upcoming year. I take into consideration what I did that rocked; and what I did that bombed. From there, I like to come up with a plan on how I am going to build off my successes for the upcoming year. I’m really informal about it, but this type of planning is done in many ways.
Over the last few weeks I’ve seen a lot of people on social media talking about their plans and goals. People are making vision boards, they are writing business plans and they are buying new planners, all with the hope of mapping out success throughout 2015. All great stuff…but what happens next?
Have you ever met someone that plans to the point where it becomes a fault? I have. In fact, sometimes I am one of them! As this quote from Danielle LaPorte reads, you don’t have to know all the answers before you begin. Sometimes you can over plan. Sometimes you can over think a strategy and sometimes, planning paralyzes you.
My advice for this time of year…don’t get so caught in planning that you forget to start doing! Change happens when you start doing things. You can write down every plan under the sun but if it never goes any where other than your notebook, it’s useless.
For 2015, make a plan and start implementing it one thing at a time. Everything in your business plan or marketing strategy doesn’t have to be implemented over night to start making progress. Take it one day at a time and 2015 will be a great year!
