When you click on a Facebook business page and they have thousands of fans does that impress you?  Does that make you think more of the brand?  Will you like a page just because thousands of others have?

Facebook Fans: Quality vs. Quantity

Your answer to all these questions may be yes and because of that, many businesses feel like having a lot of fans on their business Facebook page is important.  I agree, having a lot of fans has its benefits.  You are reaching more people and increasing your chances of receiving word of mouth advertising.  You are also reinforcing your brand each and every time one of those fans sees your posts.

However, in my opinion, there is a delicate balance between quality and quantity in the Facebook world that some business page owners often miss.  Having a lot of fans on your business page can be great if they are remotely interested in your product or service.  You never know when they will need you and remember one of your posts.  But, if you have thousands of fans that have liked your page for the wrong reasons the chances of them ever doing business with you or referring you business may be low.

In addition, with all the changes to Facebook, growing your Facebook business to have thousands of likes could take a lot of time and be expensive if you are doing paid advertising.  So my question to you is, what is your strategy with your Facebook page, quality fans or quantity?  If you have built your page to have thousands of fans I want to hear from you!  Tell me how many of those fans are also your customers.  Chime in below in the comments or on my Facebook page!
